New year Letter 2012

January, 2012

Dearly beloved,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! It’s been a period of so much spending, giving and getting. Wait a minute! Have you taken time to think, in the midst of the festivity, that last year was once a “new year” and that in a matter of 366 days, this year will also be referred to as “last year”? However, as we hope for a better and brighter year, let us like Apostle Paul forget those things which are behind and reach forth unto those things which are before. Let us reach towards the mark for the price of our high calling of God in Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:12-14).

Friend, many people in a quest for a better year have made or renewed their new year resolutions and set beautiful goals. But it is pathetic that for most of them, the year ends with their hopes dashed and bad habits more pronounce than before. These resolutions only last for a few weeks and they are back to their vomit. Do you know why? Paul wrote to the Thessalonians letting them know some of his prayers for them. 2 Thessalonians1:11b (Message Bible) reads: “...pray that he’ll fill your good ideas and act of faith with his own energy so that it all amounts to something”.Friend, you may have fantastic ideas, plans, and goals for the year. You might have even have started taking steps towards their realization. However, we wish tell youthat without God filling them with His own energy (grace, favor and blessing); it will all amount to nothing.  Jesus said:‘...apart from me you can do nothing’ (John 15:5b; NLT).

Friend, we’ll appreciate it if you’ll put aside your regrets and failures of the past year, your fears and uncertainties of this new year and cling to Him who truly loves you. If God gave us Christ His only son (John 3:16), He is willing to do other less important things for us. ‘Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?’ Romans 8:32, NLT. Isaiah 42:16 also reads: “But I'll take the hand of those who don't know the way, who can't see where they're going. I'll be a personal guide to them, directing them through unknown country. I'll be right there to show them what roads to take, make sure they don't fall into the ditch. These are the things I'll be doing for them-- sticking with them, not leaving them for a minute’(Message Bible).

If you will trust Him enough and put Him in charge of your life, He’ll take the wheel of your life and drive you safely to your ‘promise land’. All you need to do is to trust Him and embrace His grace....Wait! The most important thing for you to do is to believe in Christ.‘And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?’Matthew 16:26; NLT.  ‘And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know you have eternal life’1 John 5:11-13; NLT.
