2021 New Year Message

I am pretty sure the thoughts racing through your mind are, ‘Yay! 2020 out, 2021 in’ or ‘finally, a new year, a new start’. We delude our minds to think it is an entirely separate calendar and magically everything would be different. Newsflash: that is not entirely true. Sometimes we have to deal with the choices we made in the previous years and its consequences.

The New Year gives another opportunity to make better choices so we can get better results. We may also have to bear the ordeal of other people’s poor choices, however, that is where there COULD be a difference as children of the Most High.

The truth is that as we are of a different kingdom living in this world, we call things that are not as though they were, operating from a different sphere, because we have the power that raised Christ from the dead and greater things than He did can we do. Hallelujah!

Romans8:37-39 ESV reads, ‘No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.’

Virtually everything in life is about and results from choices, even salvation- He has before us life and death but simply put, He has given us the chance to make choices (Deut 30:15).

Here are a few tips to help start out with correct choices generally, and continue on a sure footing in

2021:

STUDY THE WORD  The benefits of God’s Word are limitless and the extent of its manifestation in our lives is dependent on how much of it we have stored up in us, profess and live out.  Learn to speak the truth of the word into your life. The Bible says he watches over His word to perform it Jeremiah 1:12

STEADY YOURSELF IN HIS PRESENCE The calmness, confidence and clarity of dwelling in God’s presence is undisputed and unrivalled.

EXERCISE AND EAT RIGHT Your body is God’s temple so it behooves us to treat it right. You can profess health in line with the scriptures but do you put into our bodies what would translate into good health? God made our bodies and its functioning is well known to him but He does not expect you to put him to the test by treating his temple and then expect Him to prevent the consequent of our bad choices.

SPEAK THE GOSPEL OF LOVE TO OTHERS Do you keep the lamp covered under a bushel? Not wise a decision I would say, rather you would place out for all to see. Same way, you should seek avenues to be the light and speak of Christ’s redeeming love to the hurting world around you.

Do we know what 2021 entails? No, but we do know the One who holds the seasons in His hands and the assurance of His unfailing and unweaning faithfulness is tough enough to hold on to with confidence as we make the right choices in line with His word and will for us. Amen!
